Postnatal A-Z: Z for Zoom

My Postnatal A-Z concludes today with Z for Zoom. I know there are other good systems out there but I definitely feel that Zoom made the transition to online classes (and quizzes etc) back in March a lot easier! I've also loved being able to join online classes that I wouldn't normally be able to get to.

Although I've returned to teaching outdoor classes, my Zoom classes are here to stay as it's been great to connect with mums further afield than west London. It's also removed a few barriers to exercise for mums: they've been able to join in PJs (a huge bonus!), there's been no pressure to get out of the house on time, and they've been able to join even if their little one is unwell. It's also saved them time.

Now, I know how much mums have enjoyed meeting other mums f2f over the past couple of weeks (in yesterday's Buggyfit class all the mums stayed on and chatted long after the class ended) so I feel that a combination of outdoors and online is the way forward so I'll definitely be offering that. Motherhood can be lonely but the more connected mums are to others who are going through the same experience the better they'll usually feel.

As a postnatal trainer, there are certainly things that I notice f2f that I don't pick up on as easily online. Although online fitness is perfect for many people, I would recommend doing a mixture of the two when you are newly postnatal so that you get help with breathing, posture and alignment throughout the different exercises.

Let me know in the comments which Zoom/online classes have been invaluable to you during lockdown.
